The Kenyan Section of the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ Kenya) is recognized by the Southern Africa Litigation Centre (SALC) in its International Cooperation Programme that focuses on strengthening legal institutions and structures to guarantee impartial and effective protection and enforcement of Human Rights.
SALC’s report, “Positive Reinforcement: Advocating for International Criminal Justice in Africa,” highlights the ICJ Kenya litigation which prevented Kenya from hosting Sudanese President Omar El Bashir as a case study of the role played by civil society organisations in ensuring local authorities respect their obligations under the Rome Statute.
